Access Statement – Glendale Guest house
Glendale Guest house, Penrith is mid 1800’s Victorian Terrace House, built around 1850 we have eight en-suite guest bedrooms. Whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests, due to the age and design of the building this might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. We are located on a wide public street, just outside of Penrith Town Centre, which delivers on-road parking. Our property outside has one step from the public highway onto our private pathway, this is followed by three further steps up to the main front door and a further step into our inner doorway; we have no handrail, up to the front door. All our guest rooms are located on the first or second floors landings. These are accessed by the staircase, which is wide with deep treads and has the original solid wood handrail & banister. From ground to first floor the stair number count is 18 (eighteen) and from first floor to second floor landing the stair number count is 19 (nineteen) Rooms are not suitable for wheelchairs.
Pre-Arrival
We are located centrally on a flat main street a short distance from the town centre, in a residential neighbourhood part of a conservation area. The road can be busy with parked cars and morning & evening rush hour but is generally quiet as is the case throughout the night. The nearest shops are 3 minutes’ walk approx. 300 yards. Our situation is ideally suited to both those travelling with or without a car. Penrith main bus station is 5-10-minutes’ walk away and Penrith local train station is 15-20 minutes’ walk away. There are several local taxi companies. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate pets.
